You Won't be Able to Escape Pink After This

You may or may not be familiar with the abundance of olive green in streetwear and style over the last 18 months or so (Thank you Kanye). Well, it seems pink is next in line. Actually, it has been bubbling up in wardrobe picks right along with our favorite camo color.

Walk into any fast fashion retailer the likes of Forever 21 or H&M, or look at any popular style Instagram or Tumblr account, and you'll realize Rose Quartz and Blush have been all over your timeline for some time.

Why is this happening? We have our theories, but thankfully, other's have done the work for us.

This article talks about how Tumblr Pink became the most ubiquitous color in fashion branding.

This article is PANTONE's declaration of Rose Quartz as one of 2016's color of the year.

This article is a critical commentary about how internet subculture aesthetics are coopted by the mainstream and turned into money engines.

In short, pink has been the color of choice for Vaporwave enthusiasts and feminist gender benders for years, and it shows all over Tumblr. Somehow, PANTONE picked up on this and made it more digestible for the masses, and fashion houses followed suit. We began to see it on Magazine covers, in ads, and in people's dope-ass street style photos and subliminally wanted to be cool enough to wear pink. So, we went and bought a shirt. Other people will probably see us wear it and have the same thought we did. And that's all she wrote.

Now is your chance to purchase something pink and rock it before it gets too popular and you no longer feel special for wearing it (especially guys). 😂

Happy shopping!
